Parks Director Mike Meersman provided a splash pad project update during Tuesday’s Kingman City Council meeting. The Venture Club is spearheading development of the water feature at Cecil Davis Park after raising $250,000 in community donations.
Meersman told council members that a change in contractor and a commitment by a subcontractor explain some of the delays the project has encountered. Nonetheless, he said splash pad equipment, components and features are arriving in Kingman and are being stored as site preparation efforts continue.
Meersman noted that a city pledge to handle some of the water utility work should mean big savings that the club might put into shade features and other enhancements for the project. He cited uncertainty with some variables in declining to predict a project completion date.
