A three hour standoff ended peacefully, Thursday, after a woman shot at a Bullhead City Police officer and then barricaded herself in a bedroom.
At 9:30 a.m., officers were called to a report of a verbal domestic between 47-year-old April Dezerienne Silvis and her mother in the 700 block of Roadrunner Drive. When the responding officer arrived on scene, Silvis fired one rifle round in the direction of the officer. She then barricaded herself in a bedroom and refused to talk to police. According to her mother, Silvis suffers from mental issues and had been staying at her mother’s residence for a couple of weeks.
Multiple attempts were made to try to contact Silvis, but she refused and was highly agitated and uncooperative. The SWAT team ultimately deployed tear gas, which forced Silvis to exit out of the bedroom window and she was taken into custody. There were no serious injuries reported.
Silvis was taken to Western Arizona Regional Medical Center for an evaluation. She faces charges of aggravated assault on a police officer and other possible charges.
