At approximately 4:12 am, Tuesday, March 10, 2015, a fire was reported by an early morning paper delivery person in the 800 block of Chalon Lane. The first arriving fire company reported heavy smoke and flames through the roof. Three engine companies, one truck company, and a Battalion Chief initially responded to the fire with two additional engine companies assigned during the operation. Crews gained control of the fire within 17 minutes. The residence was not occupied. No injuries were reported by the firefighters. Members from the Citizens Emergency Response Team (C.E.R.T.) responded to the fire to assist with rehab duties for the firefighters. Crews remained on the scene an additional two hours conducting salvage and overhaul operations. Damages were estimated at $120,000. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
