Suppression of the Willow Fire Continues
Summary: Hazard mitigation efforts continued in Topock Lake Rancheros, the one remaining evacuated community in Mohave Valley. Firefighters worked to resolve several concerns including weakened hazard trees, potential hazardous materials, stump holes and unmarked septic tanks. Cooperators continued to work to resolve unsecured propane tanks and downed power lines. Residents were advised of these actions and what they may expect when they return to their properties. They will be permitted to return at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 11, 2015.
Relatively light winds kept fire intensity low today. Suppression actions continued on the perimeter of the Willow Fire with firefighters improving established fire lines and initiating mop-up. This action, the location and cooling of any hot spots near the fire line, will continue in the days ahead.
