shooting investigation JSNKINGMAN-A local man is recovering tonight in a Las Vegas hospital after being shot in the face Monday morning.

Trish Carter, spokeswoman for the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office, said deputies and detectives responded to a shooting incident a little after 8:30 a.m. outside a convenience store in the 4000 block of East Thompson Avenue.

Carter said deputies arrived to the scene and found a 70-year-old male victim had been shot and was bleeding from his facial area.

During further investigation, said Carter, deputies learned the victim had arranged to meet the male suspect at the convenience store to reportedly purchase a ladder.

“The victim reported that the male (allegedly) pulled out a gun and shot him after he told the man he did not want to buy the ladder,” said Carter.

The suspect, who is between the ages of 30 and 45, was seen leaving the scene in an older, red/maroon or rust in color Jeep Cherokee. It was reportedly spotted traveling north on Highway 66 towards the Valle Vista neighborhood.

Carter said the victim was taken to Kingman Regional Medical Center and subsequently airlifted to University Medical Center in Las Vegas. His condition at this time is unknown.
