The Lake Havasu City Police Department wants to inform the community about recent reported suspicious circumstances near the Starline Elementary School. On February 6, 2015, at approximately 7:15 a.m., a young boy reported to his mother that there was a boy hiding in their front yard, in the 200 block of Roundup Drive, stating that he was being followed by a white truck. Once he saw the white truck it took off. The boy did not have a good description of the boy that was hiding or the white truck. When the mother went outside she noticed a school bus picking up kids in the area of Roundup Drive and Horseshoe Canyon Drive and was not able to locate the boy that had been reported hiding. Officers immediately notified staff members at the Starline Elementary School and directed them to contact the police if any students reported similar suspicious circumstances. While still at the school, an officer was contacted by several female students advising that a suspicious white truck had just driven by and was being driven by a male adult that had stopped and was looking at kids. During the day, additional students notified a School Resource Officer that they had also observed a white truck and a man taking pictures of kids with his cell phone. The white truck was further described as being a smaller older model two-door, with an Arizona license plate, and a logo sticker on the back of the truck. The license plate number, obtained through students, returns to a 2003 Ford F150 out of the Phoenix, Arizona area. The driver was only described as possibly a middle-aged white male. Officers have been assigned and tasked with identifying the suspicious white truck and the male driver. If anyone has any information pertaining to this or similar incidents are encouraged to contact the Lake Havasu City Police Department. Anonymous information can also be called into Lake Havasu Silent Witness at 928-854-TIPS (8477).
