A teenager who had sex with an intoxicated 12 year-old girl in Bullhead City faces a prison sentence through a plea agreement. 19-year-old Ethan Kabat pled guilty Monday to two reduced counts of attempted child molestation.
Prosecutor Greg McPhillips said Kabat is one of three teenagers who took advantage of the victim on March 8 at a home in the 1400 block of Summit Drive. Images of the sexual activity posted on social media triggered police investigation.
“I am apologetic and am sincerely sorry,” Kabat told Judge Billy Sipe Jr. during the change of plea proceeding. Kabat spoke of his future plans to someday get married and have kids and he expressed concern about the impacts of his criminal case upon members of his family.
Terms of the deal require Judge Sipe to impose a 5-15 year prison term at an August 14 sentencing hearing. Kabat would be placed on supervised probation for 5-10 years following his prison release and he would have to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.
Case co-defendant Robert Boisclair is expected to enter a plea agreement on July 27 and legal proceedings are still pending against Clifford Samuels, 15.
