Kingman police allege a local teenager was a one-man crime wave on Wednesday, July 12. Deputy Kingman police chief Rusty Cooper said 19-year-old Russell Dale Perkins stole a vehicle from an acquaintance before using the Ford Bronco in the commission of two armed robberies downtown.

The first robbery occurred at 11:50 p.m. at a convenience store in the 200 block of Beale street. Minutes later a gas station in the 700 block of Beale street was robbed.

“In both robberies the suspect brandished a handgun and pointed it at the clerk while demanding money,” Cooper said. “The suspect did not get any money from the first incident, but was able to get a handful of cash from the second incident.”

Investigators were able to identify Perkins as the suspect after receiving the stolen vehicle report. Perkins was arrested at 1:10 a.m. Thursday, July 13 after the stolen vehicle was spotted at a truck stop.

Perkins was booked into jail on theft and armed robbery charges.
