theater

A new owner sees a new future for an old building that has been used in many ways over the years in downtown Kingman. The structure at the corner of 3rd and Beale Street is known by many as the “old theater” and there’s a lot of work to be done before it’s ready for its new mission.

Manager Kristina Michelson said a non-profit corporation has been formed to renovate the building into an arts hub of sorts, a place where art can be displayed and performed.

Michelson and owner Sara Peterson will host an open house on Saturday, July 9. She said they want to show the community the remodeling work they envision before they begin a fundraising campaign.

“When we tell you we need a lot of money, we really mean it,” Michelson chuckled.

The open house is scheduled from 10:00 am to 2:00 p.m.
