theftMohave County Sheriff’s deputies arrested Christopher Todd Hammit, 48, of Scenic, Saturday (12/19) afternoon for theft of means of transportation, a felony, along with theft and false information to law enforcement, misdemeanors.

Deputies responded to a burglary report on Thursday (12/17) morning at a residence in the 3600 block of S Mesquite Lane where a 2013 Polaris Razor ATV was reported stolen from the garage.  Upon further investigations on Saturday (12/19) deputies learned from the homeowner the following items were stolen from his residence; his wallet with identification, wooden bed frame, two small air compressors, a coffee table with arrow heads under the glass, a chain saw, ammunition for .223, .44 and .45 caliber.   While deputies were searching the immediate washes, they observed a male subject walking west of Little Bend Drive.  Deputies recognized the male subject as Hammit.  Deputies called to the male subject by his first name and the male subject said he is not Christopher.  Deputies contacted Hammit and he continued to deny his identity.  Deputies detained Hammit.  A search of Hammit revealed a wallet belonging to the homeowner of the burglary.  Deputies located the homeowners’ identification inside the wallet.  Hammit was taken into custody without incident.   Hammit was transported to the Mesquite Jail.  Deputies questioned Hammit about the Razor and he said that he saw one parked behind his residence and he drove it.  Hammit was booked into the jail.  This investigation continues.
