A tourist was killed in a motorcycle wreck in northwest Arizona Thursday. Mohave County Sheriff’s deputies responded shortly after 10:00 a.m. to the accident on the Oatman Highway near the Colorado River community of Golden Shores.
Agency spokeswoman Trish Carter said five visitors from Japan were riding rented motorcycles when the first two Harley Davidson’s in the group failed to negotiate a curve and crashed after leaving the roadway. Carter said Ichiroh Kobayashi, 68, was dead at the scene of the wreck.
The other driver, Yoshizuka Toshimitsu, 63, was flown to Sunrise Medical Center in Las Vegas fortreatment of his injuries.
Carter said excessive speed is believed to be a factor and that the accident investigation is ongoing.
