A member of the Colorado River Union High School District is the target of a recall campaign filed with the Mohave County School Superintendent’s office. Superintendent Mike File said the Taxpayers in Action political action committee, headed by John Townsend, filed papers May 22 proposing the recall of Kerry Burgess.
A submitted statement indicated that the ouster effort is entirely focused on Burgess’ support of the $35-million bond issue passed by voters last November. More than $32-million will fund construction of a multipurpose field house facility.
File said 3,139 valid petition signatures must be gathered by September 18 to get the recall question on the ballot next March. He said conducting the special election could cost up to $80,000.
