A 12 year prison sentence was imposed March 31 for a Kingman man who entered a plea agreement in a fatal traffic collision. Tyler Smith, 22, was convicted of reckless manslaughter in the death last summer of Jerry Reece, 75, Kingman.
There was no dispute that Smith was pulled over by police after shoplifting at Walmart last August. Smith sped away after the stop and was not being chased when his speeding vehicle T-boned Reece’s car.
The victim died three weeks following the wreck. Smith must also pay more than $17,000 in restitution, in addition to the prison term imposed by Mohave County Superior Court Judge Steve Conn.
