A Kingman man has been convicted of second degree murder and other charges stemming from an April, 2014 police pursuit that ended in a traffic accident that claimed the life of a civilian. The Mohave County Superior Court jury deliberated just one hour late Wednesday afternoon before finding Robert Dodd, 43, responsible for the death of Linda Chevalier, 66.
Prosecutor Jacob Cote argued that Dodd was wanted when he refused to stop for law enforcement officers, triggering a pursuit that ended when his vehicle rammed into another driven by Chevalier in north Kingman.
Dodd’s other convictions range from aggravated assault associated with an injured passenger to endangerment, criminal damage and drug charges. Dodd was previously sentenced to 15 years in prison for six convictions associated with another police pursuit just nine days before the traffic fatality.
Cote said Dodd faces and additional 15-29 years in prison for the second degree murder conviction and additional prison time for the other ten convictions. Sentencing is scheduled November 20.
