Mohave County voters could have a special election in November. County staff is recommending that the Board of Supervisors put a transportation sales tax question on the fall ballot.

The proposal notes that a half-cent sales tax would generate an estimated $12.9-million in its first year. Two-thirds of the money would flow to the county while the four municipalities would split the rest of the funds, based on the number of road miles within their city limits.

The money would be dedicated to road repair, maintenance and construction projects. The Board of Supervisors will consider the tax election proposal during their meeting next Monday.
