Native Americans have special interest in the Holy Cross-Southern University play-in games in the NCAA men’s college basketball tournament. Holy Cross Senior starting forward Eric Green is an enrolled member of the Peach Springs-based Hualapai Indian tribe. His mother Yvette Cook said Green has maintained relationships in Peach Springs even though he grew up in California and played for a prestigious prep academy in Massachusetts. Cook said she’s thrilled her son gets to play on a national stage and can help spark pride among tribal youth. Cook said her son is a shut down defender who is blessed with tremendous jumping ability. She said the 6’4” Green commonly guards much taller players and jumps center against seven footers. The Holy Cross-Southern game is scheduled for a Wednesday tipoff of 3:40 p.m. (PST) in Dayton, Ohio.
