A Lake Havasu City man is still going to prison following a determination he acted in self defense when he stabbed and killed another man during a fight in July, 2016. Police said it was a mutual combat situation when Steven Upton, 39, killed Thomas Comer, 40 in a dispute over a woman.

Upton’s attempt to clean up blood before police arrived resulted in a tampering with physical evidence charge. Police also discovered that Upton possessed methamphetamine and a stolen car stereo.

Charges are being resolved through a plea agreement entered May 22. Upton faces a 27 month prison term when sentenced June 27.
