A vacant restaurant in Central Phoenix goes up in flames overnight.  Captain Benjamin Santillan with the Phoenix Fire Department says units were called out to the former French restaurant, “Coup Des Tartes,” and discovered a working fire. A bystander claimed someone was inside the building and firefighters

immediately conducted a search and rescue for victims.  While searching for victims, crews faced another challenge when they discovered the fire hydrant was not operational. Additional units arrived and gained a water supply to extinguish the fire.  No victims were found inside the building.  The cause of the fire is unknown.  Santillan says fire crews sometimes have to consider someone was inside the vacant building hoping to keep warm. However, there was no evidence of a squatter.
