President Barack
Obama gets a whirlwind motorcade tour of Phoenix today ahead of delivering a
speech on the housing recovery to a packed house at Central High School. On his
way to that event, Obama passed the Veterans Administration hospital, where
protesters condemned the drive-by as a snub to them in the wake of the
wait-list scandal.
Prior to that, the
president visited a federally-funded low-income housing development in Democratic
freshman congressman Ruben Gallegos’s South Phoenix district, calling it an
example of steps taken to strengthen the housing market.
