They’ve broken ground where a new six-story hotel will be built at the English Village in Lake Havasu City. Missouri based Virtual Realty Enterprises (VRE) will get started with demolition of an old movie theater and start construction by early February.
City Manager Charlie Cassens said the 123 room hotel will offer nice views of the lake and Bridgewater Channel.
“The hotel will be 110,000 sq. ft, 3,500 sq. ft. of meeting space, a 1,000 sq. ft. convenience market, 2,600 sq. ft. of covered, exterior meeting, bar and restaurant space,” Cassens said. “The project will create over 150 new construction jobs and 93 new, permanent and part time jobs.”
Cassens said the $17-million project should be completed by mid-2017.
Mayor Mark Nexsen called the development an “excellent project.”
Nexsen said he recognized some are concerned that the motel will go vertical for six stories. But he also noted that only two of those stories are above the level of the London Bridge and that the current project is two stories less than a prior development proposal.
