Mohave County Sheriff’s deputies arrested William Scott Lefferts, 23, and John Raymond Murphy, 20, both of Kingman, early Tuesday (3/15) morning. Lefferts was arrested on a probation violation felony warrant issued by Mohave County Superior Court. Murphy was arrested on two felony warrants for a parole violation issued out of Arizona Department of Corrections and a probation violation issued by Kingman Municipal Court. Deputies received a tip of the whereabouts of a wanted felon identified as Lefferts. Deputies confirmed Lefferts to be a wanted felon. Approximately 3:15 a.m., deputies responded to a residence in the 3000 block of E Lass Avenue. Upon arrival, deputies observed Lefferts in the living room. As deputies knocked on the front door, they observed Lefferts walk to a back room. Deputies heard two subjects talking inside the residence. Deputies said, “Sheriff’s Office, William come out with your hands up, you have a warrant for your arrest”. For several minutes deputies continued to announce themselves. Deputies observed Lefferts walk toward the front door with another male subject following him. Before Lefferts opened the door, he said, “Were coming out, we both have warrants”. As the door opened, Lefferts was pushed out and the other male subject locked the door. Lefferts was taken into custody without incident. Deputies learned the other male subject to be Murphy. A records check showed Murphy to have two felony warrants.
Deputies continued to announce themselves for approximately 30 to 40 minutes to have Murphy exit the residence with his hands up. As deputies were attempting force entry, Murphy yelled and came out of the residence where he was taken into custody without incident. They were transported and booked into the Mohave County Jail without further incident.
