Begley reportedly returned April 7 and secured the property to contain his 36-year-old wife. The woman’s daughter notified the sheriff’s office that Begley was not allowing her mother to leave the residence.
“Deputies observed the front entry way was boarded up with a piece of plywood,” Carter said. She said Begley did not respond when deputies used a public address system to direct him to exit the home.
“Deputies observed hands reaching around the boarded up porch entry and deputies cut the screen in the window and were able to free the victim safely,” Carter said. “The victim reported that Begley came home and boarded up the entries and exits, preventing her from leaving. The victim further said that she wanted to leave but Begley told her to stay and the cops would eventually leave.”
Carter said Begley continued to refuse exit orders following the 4:00 p.m. rescue of his wife. She said personnel forced entry into the home and took Begley into custody without incident about 7:00 p.m.
“He said that he refused to come out because he needed to pick up his tax return fro his tax person,” Carter said. She said he was jailed on a variety of kidnapping, assault, domestic violence and criminal damage charges.
