Firefighters are battling a wildfire in the Havasu National Wildlife Refuge. Spokesman Butch Meriwether says the “South Fire” started on the Arizona side of the Colorado river and jumped into California threatening two RV parks. The fire has spread to 40 acres and is zero percent contained. Meriwether says the fire
looks “suspicious in nature” and an investigation is ongoing. Pirate’s Cove and Park Moabi Recreational Vehicle parks have been evacuated with injury or incident. Crews from Fort Mohave, Golden Shores, Bullhead City and San Bernadino County joined forces to fight the fire.
