On August 25, 2014, at approximately 7:40 p.m., detectives from the Lake Havasu City Police Department Special Investigations Bureau, which is part of the Mohave Area General Narcotics Enforcement Team (MAGNET), with the assistance of the Criminal Investigations Bureau, served a search warrant on a motel room in the 2100 block of Birch Square related to an ongoing investigation. During the search warrant detectives located a syringe containing approximately 40cc of heroin and other items of drug paraphernalia. The motel room tenant, 35-year old Crystal Pearson, was not in the room when the search warrant was executed. Pearson was located a short time later and arrested as she exited the Havasu Landing boat. Pearson was charged with possession of narcotic drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia. At her initial appearance Pearson was held on a $25,000 bond and later transferred to the custody of the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office. Detectives obtained information that Pearson may be concealing additional drugs inside of her. This information was provided to the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office while Pearson was being transported to the Kingman jail facility. Upon arrival, Pearson was immediately confined in a solitary cell where she was questioned by a Kingman MAGNET detective. Pearson then voluntarily removed a plastic container from a body orifice and turned it over to the detective. The plastic container held approximately 5 grams of heroin (with an estimated street value of $1,000), approximately 1.3 grams of methamphetamine (with an estimated street value of $100-150), and one oxymorphone pill. Additional charges of possession of narcotic drugs for sale, possession of dangerous drugs for sale, and promoting prison contraband are being sought against Pearson.
