A rough start to one driver’s day as her S-U-V winds up crashing into a house. Gilbert Fire Deputy Chief Mike Connor says the woman was leaving her home just before 6:00 Monday morning when the freak accident culminated at the neighbor’s place.

Connor says it all happened when the 32 year old woman backed out of her garage and lost control of her Toyota Sequoia,  continuing in reverse to the home right across the street, careening sideways and crashing into a pillar where it came to a rest, just missing the home’s front door and perhaps preventing the vehicle from barreling inside.

Paramedics took the woman to the hospital with facial and cranial injuries, but her injuries are considered non-life threatening.

Gilbert police is looking into the cause of the crash.
