A Phoenix woman has died hours after giving birth to quadruplets. A family friend says 36-year-old Erica Morales passed away early Friday morning before getting a chance to lay eyes on her newborn babies. Morales was seven months along into her pregnancy when she hospitalized for high blood pressure.

Morales gave birth by C-section on Thursday to three girls and one boy. The cause of Morales’ death is under investigation. According to a statement released by Banner Good Samaritan Hospital, “our heartfelt thoughts and condolences are with the family family during this difficult time.”

Donations can be made to GoFundMe.com for Morales’ husband Carlos and their babies. So far, more than $63,000 dollars has been donated to the family.
