fatal crash JSNBULLHEAD CITY-A local woman died early Sunday morning from injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident in Bullhead City.

Bullhead City Police spokeswoman Carina Spotts said Betty Jean Grandon, 74, was driving her Toyota Prius southbound on the highway when she reportedly ran a red light at Meadows Drive and Highway 95.

Her vehicle collided with a silver 2011 Jeep Wrangler driven by Maria Elena Middlebrook, 63.

“Middlebrook was reportedly stopped for a red light east bound on Meadows Drive waiting to turn left onto the north bound side of Highway 95,” said Spotts. “When the light turned green, Middlebrook proceeded into the intersection where it was struck Grandon’s vehicle.”

Further investigations say Grandon failed to stop for the red light and after colliding with Middlebrook’s vehicle, crashed into a fence in the east side of the highway.

Middlebrook and her passenger, Janet May Rice, 79, were both taken by ambulance to Western Arizona Regional Medical Center.

Grandon was also taken to WARMC where she was pronounced dead.

Spotts said there was no evidence of alcohol or drugs by either driver.
